Job Description
Reporting to the Chief Operations Officer, the successful candidate will lead the volunteers department through the recruitment, training, placement, and retention of people who will be supporting Hospice Malta overall operations through their volunteering role. As part of his/her role, the Coordinator will also be supporting the different departments at Hospice Malta in implementing the organization’s objectives.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop and implement policies and procedures related to functions mentioned above
- Implement an orientation programme for volunteers, assign roles and responsibilities accordingly and keep ongoing communication with the respective individuals.
- Create and maintain an effective and on-going communication flow with all volunteers and staff members.
- Develop and strengthen the current volunteer compliment and maximise their skill set potential while exploring new opportunities and niches for the recruitment of volunteers.
- Coordinate and liaise with staff members and volunteers
- Maintain and update detailed records of volunteer information and assignments
- Taking a leading role in the organization to support the operations involving volunteers.
- Assisting the fundraising department in logistics, planning and coordination of activities.
Core Skills and Qualifications
- Proven experience in people management and event coordination roles
- Working knowledge of databases and MS office (especially Excel)
- Able to communicate effectively with diverse people
- Excellent organisational skills, team coordination and proactive.
- Being proactive, hands on and flexible.
- A tertiary level of education. (Degree/Diploma in Management/ and/or in the Social Sciences or Allied Health will be considered an asset)
While experience is considered a positive asset, personality, strong character, trustworthiness, motivation, inspiration and characteristic aptitude and attitude will be favorably considered. The role requires flexible working hours both during the week as well as availability during the weekends.
