About the Role

The HR Executive plays a key role in supporting Hospice Malta’s people strategy through the effective delivery of HR services across the employee lifecycle. Reporting to the CHRO, this role is responsible for recruitment, HR administration, employee engagement, attendance management and compliance with employment legislation and organisational policies. The successful candidate will play an important role in fostering a positive employee experience through wellbeing, engagement, and people-focused initiatives that support Hospice Malta’s mission and values.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support the day-to-day delivery of Human Resources services across the organisation.
  • Coordinate recruitment, selection, onboarding, and employee lifecycle processes.
  • Maintain employee records, HR systems, and HR-related documentation, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.
  • Administer attendance, leave, absenteeism, and other workforce administration processes.
  • Provide HR support to employees on HR-related matters and employee relations issues.
  • Coordinate employee wellbeing, engagement and support Social Committee initiatives.
  • Liaise with Jobsplus, Identità, and other relevant authorities, including supporting employment permit processes for Third Country Nationals.
  • Prepare HR reports and workforce data, while supporting compliance with employment legislation, organisational policies, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Undertake any other duties commensurate with the role, as reasonably directed by management.

Knowledge, Skills and Aptitudes

  • Sound knowledge of HR administration, employee lifecycle processes, and HR best practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships.
  • Strong organisational, prioritisation, and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple demands and meet deadlines.
  • High level of professionalism, integrity, discretion, and confidentiality.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, HR systems, and written and spoken Maltese and English.
  • Proactive, adaptable, and solution-oriented approach, with a commitment to continuous professional development.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Qualification in Human Resources, Business Administration or a related field.
  • Foreign qualifications must be accompanied by MQRIC recognition issued by MFHEA.
  • Minimum three (3) years’ relevant experience in Human Resources, Recruitment, Employee Relations or HR Administration.

Desirable

  • Experience using Shireburn HR systems.
  • Knowledge of Maltese employment legislation and HR best practices.
  • Experience handling Third Country National work permit applications with Identità.
  • Familiarity with Jobsplus procedures and employment registrations.
  • Experience within the healthcare, voluntary or non-profit sector.
