HR Coordinator

General Responsibilities:

The Human Resources Coordinator will oversee all aspects of Human Resources practices and processes.  He / She will support the organisation’s needs and ensure that Hospice Malta has the required HR that will enable it to undertake the proper implementation of its strategy and objectives.

The main goal is to promote corporate values and enable the organisation’s success through human resources management, including recruitment, performance management, development, employment cycle changes and talent management. The HR Coordinator will be answerable to the Chief Operations Officer.

 

Key Roles and Responsibilities: (Summary)
  • To create an HR policy targeting recruitment, performance management, HRD in line with Hospice’s strategy.
  • To develop an HR handbook and ensure all employees understand the HR policies.
  • Ensure legal compliance including Occupational Health and Safety legislation.
  • To manage the recruitment and selection process including formulation of position descriptions, related advertising, and finalisation of the selection process.
  • To conduct Capacity Building Exercises.
  • To support in the development of an appraisal system based on performance – provide ongoing feedback and keep open lines of communication while giving employees an opportunity for improvement.
  • To liaise with the Practice Development Coordinator to ensure maximum development of HR through the creation and successful implementation of a training framework/program for all employees, enhancing employees’ capabilities to carry out the respective duties.
  • To evaluate retaining strategies including financial, non-financial and family friendly measures/incentives.
  • To instill a sense of team spirit, teamwork and inter-team collaboration creating a sense of belonging to the organization
  • To manage disputes in liaison with the CEO and/or other Chief Officers as required
  • Administration of payroll and benefits.

 

Qualifications and Skills:
  • Holds a degree in HR or a related field; and/or has a minimum of 4 years’ experience in a similar role.
  • Has strong leadership skills and is able to supervise, train and evaluate employees
  • Has excellent oral and written communication skills (Maltese and English) motivating employees and making sure they know what is expected of them
  • Is detail oriented and works with a high degree of accuracy
  • Is highly organised and flexible, able to maintain records and produce clear reports and presentations
  • Has a solid knowledge of Maltese employment legislation and industrial relations
  • Ability to work in a team, strong interpersonal skills and the ability to deal and coordinate with a diverse range of people
  • Has a pleasant personality and is approachable to employees
  • The ability to deal with information in a confidential manner and respond with sensitivity
