An art exhibition to raise funds for Hospice Malta has been held in Valletta.

The works, created by Josephine Grima and Chris Galea, were on show at the entrance to the Custom House at Lascaris Wharf.

The artists are both employees at the Customs Department.

The exhibits were made from recycled materials found around the Grand Harbour after discarded wood discovered near the Custom House sparked the talented pair’s inspiration.

Hospice Malta Chief Relations Officer Andrew Zammit visited the exhibition and thanked the artists and the Customs Department for their kindness and goodwill.

He said that charitable donations and fundraising efforts had experienced a dip in recent months as a side effect of the Covid-19 pandemic.

“Unfortunately, NGOs and Charities such as Hospice Malta are not immune to the COVID induced economic downturn. Like commercial entities, we too are struggling to make ends meet. We must keep working hard to ensure that we keep delivering all of our services to our patients for free.”

He thanked Josephine Grima and Chris Galea for their initiative and generosity and encouraged other similar initiatives.
