As part of its CSR endeavours and as a heartfelt contribution at the end of such a difficult year, LIDL has generously made a donation to Hospice Malta.

2020 has been a truly unprecedented year in which many people faced extraordinary situations, often struggling to make ends meet. This is why Lidl Malta, a leading retail chain on the Maltese islands, has decided to donate its annual budget allocated to the festive, end of year dinner to a number of charitable organizations instead.

Part of the budget normally allocated to their traditional Christmas dinner, hosting over 350 employees, was donated to Hospice Malta, and the Company left it up to their team members to decide who to donate their ‘End of Year Dinner’ budget to.

Hospice Malta is an NGO that depends heavily on donations and support from the community. Hospice provides patient-centred palliative care free-of-charge to more than 1300 patients every year. The NGO’s primary role is to provide services to patients suffering from cancer, motor-neuron disease, end-of-life, cardiac, renal and liver diseases. Services include home care and follow up visits for patients, day therapy of various natures, hydrotherapy, 24/7 respite care, patient transport, hospital support, loaning of equipment, after-hours on-call support, psychological services as well as bereavement support.
