Skilled Facility and Maintenance Officer

Key Roles and Responsibilities

A. Forming part of the team on site until completion of project, the role will involve:

  1. Liaison with the project team and the contractors working on site with a view that s/he gets the necessary familiarization with and knowledge of the project works being carried out and the eventual maintenance and upkeep requirements of the entire facility once it’s in operation.
  2. Assist the team in a practical manner in carrying out any minor works required on site which is out of the contractors’ scope
  3. Responsible for appropriately storing and keep track of any equipment delivered on site that belongs to Hospice Malta
  4. Technical Documentation Management consisting of the filing of all the Operations and Maintenance Manuals, Testing and Commissioning Documents, As Built drawings, Certifications, etc.

 

B. Once the project is completed, the selected candidate will be responsible for the maintenance services and processes that support the operations of the facility either by carrying out the tasks him/herself or by coordinating and supervising maintenance contractors engaged by Hospice Malta, ensuring the highest standards of safety and quality of work through:

  1. Ensuring that the organization has the equipment/resources available as well as their upkeep, to carry out the necessary duties
  2. Ensuring the proper, safe functioning as well as the smooth operations of the facility, through the preparation of a calendar for preventive maintenance
  3. Carryout the repair and upkeep of the facilities and garden including plumbing & electrical installations, electrical devices, plastering, painting
  4. Monitoring and regular maintenance/performance assessment/upkeep of various mechanical and electrical systems including (but not limited to) AC units, CCTV systems, door access control units and intercoms, kitchen appliances, plumbing and drains, lighting, fire alarm systems, generator, nurse call system, medical equipment and bathtubs, medical gases /oxygen plant/equipment, chutes system, pumps and PV panels.
  5. The preparation and upkeep of an inventory list of all equipment and material in store
  6. Call in maintenance contractors as necessary and follow up any repairs carried out
  7. Carryout minor new works or alterations or light carpentry when required
  8. Assist with risk assessments of processes and tasks
  9. Any other duties as identified by management

 

Qualifications and Skills

The applicant will:

  • Have proven experience in planning maintenance operations
  • Be in possession of a Wireman’s License Authorization A
  • Have a solid understanding of plumbing and electrical systems as well as carpentry and other crafts;
  • Knowledgeable in the various maintenance requirements in buildings
  • Knowledgeable in Health and safety regulations.
  • Have good verbal and written communication in Maltese and English
  • Have interpersonal skills with a pleasant and outgoing personality
  • Be flexible and work independently as well as within a team
  • Has good organizational skills, time management with proven ability to meet deadlines and prioritise work as necessary
  • Knowledgeable in the use of basic IT software like using email, Word processor and spreadsheets
  • Has the ability to maintain organized records and produce clear reports
